How To Become A Good Speaker

Ever wondered what type of things you can do with your public speaking abilities?

There many venues for pubic speaking to be performed. Public speakers nowadays come in different forms. Almost anyone from any background can be professional speakers. There many specialties to be considered too.

The specialties are mainly about niches. Each speaker has his own niche and it is very important to choose a target audience because the longevity and profitability of the speaking career heavily relies on having a dedicated audience.

Public speaking has a variety of audiences to choose from. The first thing that usually that pops into mind is the corporate arena. Many think of it as the most profitable and the pinnacle venue for public speaking in terms of profitability and prestige. However, it is not. It is just one of the audiences you have to choose from.

Another audience that is  available to public speakers is in colleges as a keynote or motivational speaker. A speaker can earn tons of money if she knows how to break into that market and deliver accordingly. The youth arena today is a booming public speaking outlet. These days, many aspiring speakers, especially younger ones, try to break into this audience and do so with great success.

There are a lot of other audiences in the market, speakers just needs to open their eyes and be mindful. There are a lot of groups out there that will welcome a competent speaker to help them achieve their goals and provide solution to their problems.

Here’s an example, if you have amazing stuff for housewives and you have vast knowledge in this field, you can settle in this niche and become an in demand expert. Organize small groups of housewives to speak to and eventually your audience base will grow. Being a time management specialist for multi-tasking businesspersons is also another type of department you can venture as a speaker. The point here is that speaking audiences are abundant and they come in limitless categories.

Public speaking is also a great tool for promoting a product. Speeches can be great pitches. Speakers can become platform sellers that will generate income from immediate sales of products. Persuasive speaking is the key here. A lot of inventors or entrepreneurs have evolved into excellent public speakers because they have recognized that they can sell better if they do some platform speaking to represent their products or services.

Public speaking can be done from anywhere. There are a lot of conferences, seminars, meeting and assemblies to choose from. The most important thing is to get out there and promote yourself as a speaker. Jobs won’t come looking for you, but if you market yourself effectively you’ll be able to find more than enough work.

Additionally, speakers can be good in different things; some are great keynote speakers, others are amazing motivators, and some are wonderful in persuasive speeches. Other speakers have also made quite a living in their how-to expertise.

Overall, public speaking is a general profession. Finding your niche, developing a product, and getting to know your own personality will ultimately guide a speaker towards a specialty.

Speaking Jobs: How To Land Speaking Jobs Quickly

How do you get booked?

This is one of the most prevalent concerns of professional speakers. Being able to land bookings is the only way you will be able to define yourself as a great speaker. You learn from the experience, generate income, market your stuff, and hopefully gain fame from it. Without getting bookings you can not qualify as a professional in the speaking business.

Getting booked is a marketing art. It comes from an understanding of the market and effectively using that understanding to your advantage. If you know what your buyer wants you will know how to package and customized your products and materials. Marketing appeal is everything. Thus, to get book, you must appeal to your niche!

How to have that appeal you ask?

Establish yourself as an expert in the niche

People will always prefer to hire experts. Why should they settle to some above-average speaking professional if they can have you, the expert in the field?

Being seen as an expert makes it easier to get booked and you can set high fees! You can do this by having lots of relative experience and also by constantly surrounding your self with people within the niche. In principle, being an expert comes from the initial decision of choosing a niche and sticking to it like glue.

Having a book will also make you more credible and will help you be seen as even more of an expert. An individual who has authored a book about a particular subject is always seen as an authority in that field. That is the public schema; it always has been and you must recognize this.

Additionally, a book or any type of resource you created can also provide another stream of income. They can be sold after your speech to augment your profits in the speaking business.

Have Striking Marketing Materials

Your marketing materials or media kit as some may call, should be striking. Make it professional looking and directly address your market. If your market demands someone who can speak about leadership, adapt your marketing materials to suit that demand.

The whole point here is to get the buyers to think that you are the best person to deliver their needs. With catchy professional-looking materials and the direct-to-the-dilemma approach you can make the coordinator choose you for their event.

Networking is king

Spread the word. Networking is connecting with people that can connect you with other people that may also be able to connect with other people. It is one way and considerably the cheapest way to promote your self.

When you are doing this, it is always better to interact with people within the niche. You can openly express your availability in a conversational way; get contact information and referrals. Build up your database. Your database of potential clients can never be too large.

Have a Web Presence

Just like having a book, having an online presence also helps in building up your credibility. Make your website informative and catchy. Emphasize your expertise and how you can help with your market. Inform the visitors with your products and online resources.

Basically, having a website is like having all the previous tips all rolled into one. With the Internet you are establishing a reputation, marketing your stuff, and also expanding your network via online subscriptions.

How to Become a Public Speaker

Have you ever wondered what to do with your charm and knack of speaking in front of people?

Have you ever thought that you could make a profitable career out of it?

Professional public speaking is a vocation for people with a flair in mass communication. A career in public speaking does not just involve skills on stage but includes a lot of off stage skills as well.

Before I go into that, lets touch on how to become an effective public speaker; one that may have longevity and great money-making potential.

A public speaker should have a specialty. You should know what kind of speeches you are most natural and attuned with. There may be a specific topic that you find your self most knowledgeable in. Once you are able to determine your topic consider it  your specialty.

In public speaking, your specialty will determine your niche. Your niche is your ticket to public speaking success. Being a generalist will limit your potential. It may seem counter-intuitive but in any business venture, a target audience must be resolved. It is your market. It is where you will draw your inspiration and riches from.

And now, that brings me to the other half of being an effective public speaker. Public speaking is not only about doing speeches; it is also implementing marketing strategies. Delivering speeches is the product and the marketing aspect will sell the product. Poor marketing practices will not get you booked. Your product is pointless if no one is using it.

Great public speakers know how to brand themselves. Are you a hilarious motivational speaker? Brand yourself as a “Motivational Comedian!” are you a near death survivor with something inspirational to share? Label your public speaking persona as “The Miraculous Preacher!”

Those are just simple examples and I know they’re a bit cheesy but you get my point.

Branding enhances marketing appeal and denotes niche expertise. Moreover, you are much easier to recall because of the branding.

Marketing yourself as a speaker must be extensive. You should use lots of marketing materials to help reach your audience. Flyers, brochures, and media ads are just some of marketing tools you can implement. Keep in mind to stay focus with your brand. Emphasize your personal brand in these marketing materials. So that, at first glance, it can be catchy and somehow capable of displaying what you are all about.

Public speaking is an ongoing journey. A lot of learning will take place as you  grow with your career. Ultimately, you will become an authority and people will give high regards to your skills and knowledge.

It may take some time to get to that status but you won’t ever get there if you don’t spend the time promoting yourself in the public market. Make the people aware of your skills and offers and just be sure that you can deliver a great performance.

Public Speaking Job – How to Speak For A Living

How about a job that pays well, enrich your life and the lives of others, offers opportunities for travel, and can possibly make you a celebrity, does that sound appealing to you?

Public speaking is an art and a profitable business that lets you address the masses and touch them with the power of words, confidence, and persuasion. It is also a skill which you can use to motivate and inspire audiences with moving speeches.

The best way to start with this career is to assess your skills as a speaker at first. Whether it is for weddings, free seminars, or just group talks, grab every opportunity to speak at any function or event. Ask for feedback from the listeners after speeches. Tell your family and friends to be brutally honest. It will help you.

Confidence is a major attribute in public speaking. People will usually only want motivational advice from someone who is a self-assured and poised individual. With blunt criticisms, further experience, and constant efforts to improve, you will begin to gain confidence as you make progress in your public speaker career.

Positioning yourself in the market as a public speaker is the tricky part of the business. There are a lot of good speakers out there and the competition is high. Do not let that discourage you. You can learn from your competitors by simply knowing what works for them and finding out what their strengths are and where you could improve on their weaknesses or shortcomings. Amazingly, the market is so versatile that you can surely find a niche where you can fit in quite well.

To make your career in public speaking profitable, you should have the mindset of a marketer. This is a business after all and the products are your topics and speeches. Marketing them is vital to your career. Any respectable businessperson should know what the market desires and can use that information to capitalize on that desire.

It is very important to have a topic that appeals to your niche. With great topics, you can get booked frequently. Great topics can even last you a lifetime. Great speakers have traveled the world just with one topic. Of course, delivery of the speeches is also imperative. Once you get your audiences attention really touch them and inspire them into action. With each successful speech you will generate a lot of referrals and testimonials from satisfied customers. People will recommend you to other companies or groups.

No matter what your niche might be, you should be aware who the buyers are. Planners and organization heads are usually the people to talk to in order to get booked for events. Know their soft spots and package your services based on their needs and wants.

You should always come out as a professional who specializes on their needs. Getting paid is for generalists. Getting paid lucratively is for specialists.

Becoming a public speaker does not stop at being able to give a speech. In order to be a successful speaker you must expand your business off the stage and outside the seminar rooms. Financially successful speakers create materials such as books, CDs, and manuals to sustain their services as well as profitability. In this way you can earn income with or without the speaking engagements.

A career in public speaking is a rewarding job. You must have passion to be a truly successful motivational speaker.

How to Become A Paid Speaker – James Malinchak

Do you want to make money just by using the things you’ve learned through out your life?

Who doesn’t?

Speaking gives you the opportunity to help and at the same time, earn yourself additional income. Each of us has had our own challenges and tribulations to contend with. Chances are, you have learned something valuable in life and it is worth sharing with other people.

Believe it or not, people will pay you to teach them the life lessons you’ve learned. The price tag will depend largely on your reputation, material, and promotional skills.

First of all, public speaking is a business. It involves lots of marketing and the product you’re selling is your knowledge and skills. In other words, you are the merchandise! And you will promote yourself to the fullest.

A product is judged by its quality and a high-quality product will always be a commercial success. As a professional public speaker, you must strive to constantly improve your merchandise. Always look for ways to enhance your speaking skills and material. Eventually, the market will take notice of your excellence and your value will rise. Demand for your services will grow and your bank account will get fatter!

The most difficult part of being a professional public speaker is the start up. You will basically need to start from scratch. Nobody knows who you are or what you can do. It can be very demoralizing not knowing what steps to take. The key is to build up a portfolio and then, go out and network.

Models, actors, photographers… Public speakers are all the same. To launch your career, you need to build a portfolio of your accomplishments and credentials.

Now, you wonder, “I still don’t have any relevant accomplishments to display and my credentials are not that great either. So, what will I put in my portfolio?”

Learn, join classes and seminars, get certificates, work for free, and get referrals. These are great start-up marketing strategies to enhance credentials and expand your connections. Apparently, you will have to sacrifice a relative amount of time and money but that will be just fine… it will all be worth it in the end. .

If you already have done a few engagements and granted you will be surprised with the consequential referrals. Your career will launch, your worth will steadily grow, and by then, you can guiltlessly charge for your services. Your work’s value will only rise as your reputation strengthens.

As you grow professionally, it is natural to specialize your skills and find your niche. Specialization is a spontaneous evolution of your public speaking skills. Typically, you won’t really have to think about it – it just happens. You may become an accomplished keynote speaker, a celebrated motivational expert, or an all-knowing guru.

As a result, your market may narrow but your price tag will increase. The demands for your services will not falter but your workload will pleasantly diminish. You can afford to turn down negotiations and assert your own demands because in a sense, you are now comparable to a celebrity.

Professional public speaking is an honorable occupation and if you have the aptitude, it can be a very worthwhile and gratifying pursuit.

How To Sell Your Products While Speaking

Do you want people to flock over your products, go to your store, or visit your website to grab your offers after listening to your speech?

A great persuasive sales speech can make your wallet fat by earning lots of passive income! It can make people want your product even if they do not really care for it to begin with. The purpose of the speech is to create a desire in them. Make them believe that they want the product badly. The art of persuasion is easy if you know what to do.

Marketing your product is the key to sales. People seek information to solve their problems. As a marketer, you will give all the information but along with providing information you should use persuasion and motivation.

For example, if you are trying to sell a non-fiction book about the how-to’s of corporate success, don’t just tell the people what your book is about. Tell them why it is so effective and easy to implement. Tell them why it’s just no ordinary book; tell them how it has helped a lot of people and who these people are.

You may be thinking, easier said than done. Okay, let me just share with you some principles on how to give a speech that will help to sell your products faster and easier.

1. Know your product

You are the expert, you must know the ins and outs of your product. It will give you confidence in your speech because you know everything about it. You will also be able to answer any questions from the audience without difficulty.

2. Believe in your product

If you don’t believe that your product is capable of solving people’s problems then marketing the product is just one big fat lie and most of the time, people can see through it. Truly believing in your product will radiate passion, enthusiasm, and self-assurance. Audiences will easily have faith in you if you yourself believe in the product.

3. Mood is everything

Make your audience laugh. Laughter makes the audience feel more relaxed. A relaxed audience is more receptive and trusting. If the atmosphere is tense and uptight, you won’t be able to pitch your product effectively.

4. Specify the benefits of having your product

This is the motivation part. You need to explain to the audience the benefits of having your product and showing them why the should believe in your product and explaining that it will solve their problems or help attain their goals. The primary reason why people are listening to you is because they want to know if you can provide the solution for them.

5. Tell them why you created the product (How and Why it got made)

Building rapport and trust is essential. Make the audience realize that the product is not mainly a money-making wagon even if that’s what it has become. Tell them how and why you came up with the product while stressing that you want to share your product with the people.

6. Testimonials

Testimonials are very powerful. They build credibility and add more influence.

7. Tell the people that the product could be great for someone else

Well, Some people just don’t need your product. Some just do not have desire to own it. No matter how much persuasion, they may not sway. How can sell a book entitled “How to get rich” to Bill Gates for example? The point here is to convince the audience members who do not want to own it to think of it as a gift idea for friends and business associates.

8. Give the audience a great discount

Show the audience that you care about how much better it will be for them once their problems is solved. Provide a special discount that is only for audience members and if it is only if they buy today. Creating a sense of urgency will help your product sell.
